Thunderstorm

For most of today we had some reasonably nice weather.  Plenty of sunshine and a none too chilly 19 or 20 degrees centigrade.  Around 6pm however we began to hear some thunder which moved closer until the heavens opened a short time later before clearing up again to give us a pleasant enough end to the evening…

Dark clouds move in with Gullstein ridge in shadow and the ridges nearer home still bathed in sunlight.

On the other side of the house the blue skies were being replaced with the ominous looking clouds.

A few minutes later and the rain and hailstones were bouncing off the balcony rail.

Splash
Raindrops bouncing off the rail can be seen through the rain-lashed windows.
Pearls
Rain like drops of mercury against the dark background.

Sun
After the storm passed the sun was soon back again making the raindrops shine like diamonds.
