Working City

Although at this time of year hardly a day goes by in Bergen without a visit from some cruise ship or another packed with tourists eager to see the World Heritage Site of Bryggen, the city’s charming architecture and narrow streets or to enjoy the mountains and nature so close to hand in the city, those of us who live here know that this is very much a working city and not an open-air museum.  The following two shots are from the archives but show some of the everyday working reality of life on Norway’s west coast…

Construction
A construction site where new homes are being built for the city’s growing population.
